Napoli Price Tag Cavani at a whooping €70M

Is he worth €70 million?
Exclusive reports from Tuttosport,Football Italia,Inside futbol, Sports Mole, Crunch sports and some other newspapers are widely reporting that Napoli are willing to sell their tailsmanic Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani for about 70 million Euros. Cavani who joined Napoli in the summer of 2010 is being chased by a host of clubs most notably the Blues,Juventus and Leagues top spenders and winners Manchester City. The 25 year old is under lock and key with Italian giants till 2016 which is the reason why Napoli are demanding for such a mammoth amount.

The forward recently cast doubt on his future at the San Paolo by as good as admitting that failure to qualify for next season's Champions League could lead to him seeking a summer transfer. As well as Chelsea and Man City, Italian champions Juventus, and French giants Paris Saint-Germain are both thought to be keen on signing the Uruguay international. But Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has insisted he will only let Cavani leave the club this summer should his valuation is met.

A report read-
One of the best srtikers in Europe at the moment.
Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has insisted he will only let Cavani leave the club this summer should his valuation is met.

"People claim that I intend to sell Cavani," he told Tuttosport.

And he added: "Of course, if they are offering €70m in cash."

Speaking earlier this month, Cavani refused to rule out a move away from Napoli this summer, telling Goal.com: "I do not know anything about what happened or what is happening.

"I am only thinking about these matches with the national team, which will close the season. After this, I want to go on holiday, which will be very important."

Cavani  who scored 23 goals from 35 appearences in Serie-A and 5 goals in 8 appearences in Europe is one of the hottest strikers in Europe and has even shivered the Blues defence in that 3-1 loss. In my opinion if the Blues manage to land Edinson at Stamford Bridge it could be one of the best signings in the history of Chelsea. Talks with Porto for Hulk are yet to reach any solid conclusion and his agent strongly hinted lately that the Brazilian starlet could remain at Porto or move elsewhere, Cavani could just be the signing the Blues need to set-up one of the strongest attacking forces throughout Europe.

Till then KTBFFH as always and stay tuned for more transfer gossip....

Didier Drogba: Tribute to a Living Legend

Didier Drogba
Chelsea's 4th highest goal scorer of all time. The man who's scored more goals for Chelsea than any other foreign player. Highest all-time goal scorer for Côte d'Ivoire. Champions League hero. These are some words that can be used to describe Didier Yves Drogba Tébily. None of these words will ever come close to describing how much we love him.

The penalty that sealed the deal

It's not hard to understand why, given the numerous moments of joy Chelsea fans have had because of him. From scoring the first ever goal at the new Wembley in the FA Cup final in 2007, scoring the goal against Manchester United in 2010 at Old Trafford that put us top of the Premier League to netting the winning penalty in the Champions League final in 2012, Drogba has always been in the thick of things. He was one who could rise to the occasion, which is why it is no surprise that he always seemed to be at his best during crunch situations. Most Chelsea fans had all but given up hopes of Champions League football in 2012-13, but Drogba's equalizer was enough to knock the wind out of Bayern's sails, & his penalty which won us the Champions League for the first time in our history was composed & emphatic.
The Special Ones: Mourinho & Drogba
When Jose Mourinho first wanted to buy Didier Drogba, he was met with skepticism by the Chelsea board. They failed to understand what The Special One saw in him that was worth paying £24M for. Mourinho was adamant however, & eventually he had his way. Funnily enough, Didier Drogba was extremely reluctant to join the club. He even hoped that the transfer fell through. I wonder if he still feels the same way...
Nevertheless, one can argue that the £24M that Roman Abramovich spent on him was some of the best business he's ever done. In 341 appearances that span over 8 seasons, Didier Drogba has scored 157 goals & made 71 assists. He will always be remembered for his 13 goals against Arsenal & his 8 goals at Wembley. I'm sure that Wembley will miss Drogba. I'm sure that Arsenal won't.
His departure leaves a void in Chelsea that is going to be very hard to fill. Not only was he our main striker for 8 seasons (the arrival of players like Andriy Shevchenko, Nicholas Anelka & more recently Fernando Torres never changed that), but he was also one of our biggest personalities on the pitch. Whenever the team looked down & out, Drogba (along with Lamps & JT) could be seen yelling words of encouragement to all the players. More often than not, he led by example & upped his game whenever the team required him to do so. Not bad for a player who didn't want to join the club in the first place.
Farewell, Didier...
Farewell, Didier. You may have left the club, but you will always remain a part of Chelsea FC.

Chelsea Looking To Capture Lille Right Back Mathieu

Chelsea are looking to capture  Lille right back Mathieu Debuchy in their bid to replace José Bosingwa who is set to part company with the club at the end of this month. The 26 year old France international is often deployed in the right back position, but began his career playing as a midfielder usually acting as a deep-lying play-maker.

According to the Mirror, the Blues are interested in the Frenchman:
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich wants to carry on his summer spending spree - and is ready to snatch France right-back Mathieu Debuchy from Newcastle.Newcastle still hope to get their man, but the Blues are keen to strengthen at Debuchy's position after freeing Jose Bosingwa at the end of the season.

The report from Daily Mail read as follows-
Chelsea plan to snatch French international Mathieu Debuchy from under the noses of Newcastle as the Stamford Bridge club continue their summer transfer splurge. The £6million-rated right-back has impressed during Euro 2012 and was expected to join the Magpies after the tournament.

But Blues owner Roman Abramovich has identified the 26-year-old as the next piece of his new-look Chelsea side. The right back slot has been a problem area for the London club with Jose Bosingwa being released at the end of last season. The versatile Branislav Ivanovic meanwhile wants to play at the heart of the defence after being shunted out to full back. Ajax’s Gregory Van der Wiel is also a possible target but Debuchy looks to have jumped to the front of the queue

Debuchy is a solid one-on-one defender, but he also excels going forward up the pitch. He would certainly be an upgrade over any of the right-backs that Chelsea currently have.Debuchy is a smart player and a reliable presence at the back. He also has Champions League experience from his time at Lille this season.

The Blues have already secured the services of Eden Hazard from Lille in the transfer window, Debuchy would have a teammate that he knows well right off the bat in England.

If Debuchy does come to Chelsea it could be one of the best baragains  of the transfer window but skill wise, ability wise Debuchy is great as well. Debuchy is also representing the France national team in the Euros with Arsenal’s Sagna out with injury. Debuchy has been attracting interest from a host of other clubs but he could be tempted by the European Champions and their forthcoming plans.

Till then Blue is the Color.

Roberto Di Matteo: Do's & Don'ts For 2012-13

On 13th June 2012, Roberto Di Matteo officially became Chelsea's new manager. The appointment was given a thumbs-up by Chelsea fans, as most of us believed that the man who led us to our maiden Champions League title should be given the job on a permanent basis.
Di Matteo hardly needs an introduction. He joined the club in 1996 from Lazio & scored 26 goals in 175 appearances for the Blues. He is a man held in high regard by Chelsea fans. After he miraculously turned our season around in 2 months, it became clear that he was a front-runner for the job.
Chelsea's new manager Roberto Di Matteo

However, being the manager of Chelsea isn't easy. 7 managers (8 if you include Di Matteo's interim spell) have been in charge of Chelsea since Roman Abramovich took over the club in 2003. If Di Matteo wants to avoid the fate of his predecessors, he will have to avoid making the same mistakes they did. Here's a look at the Do's & Don'ts for Roberto Di Matteo in the coming season.

Do's:-

1) Focus on the result- Many people felt that the tactics used by Roberto Di Matteo in some of Chelsea's matches last season (most notably against Barcelona) were negative, even being branded as "anti-football". The way I see it, as long as you get the desired result, it doesn't matter what tactics you use provided they aren't illegal. Many previous Chelsea managers (most notably Scolari & AVB) focused so much on changing our style of play that it hurt our results, & football is a results business. With players like Marin, Mata & Hazard now part of our squad, one can expect stylish football from Chelsea. Robbie should simply focus on getting the right results.
McEachran: still waiting...

2) Give youth a chance- I can't even begin to stress how important it is that we give our younger players a chance. Chelsea is teeming with bright young talent, but what's the point of having them in the squad if they aren't given any game time? Players like Sam Hutchinson, Lucas Piazon, Patrick Bamford & Milan Lalkovic (just to name a few) are promising young talents. There are also players like Oriol Romeu, who went missing for a majority of the 2nd half of last season. Josh McEachran is held in high regard by many Chelsea fans, but has barely featured in Chelsea's starting XI. Considering the fact that we are likely to see the departure of the so-called "Old Guard" (Lampard, Terry, Cech etc) in a few years time, it is important that we have players who are ready to make the step up when required.

3) Squad rotation is a must- This was one thing Robbie excelled at last season. When he took over, Chelsea were still competing for the FA Cup & the Champions League, whilst also playing for 4th place in the Premier League. Even with a squad that was considered past it's prime by many, he constantly chopped & changed his starting XI depending on the teams we played while ensuring we got the desired results. With Roman looking likely to add more players to the squad, he can expect a squad that has good depth. Considering the fact that we will be involved in 5 major tournaments next season (I'm not even counting the Community Shield & the European Super Cup), he will have to continue to rotate the squad to avoid player fatigue.

Don'ts:-

1) Alienate the "Old Guard"- Ah, the reason for AVB's demise. The young Portuguese manager was so determined to get Chelsea to play attractive football that he used to field mostly younger players, often leaving the "Old Guard" frustrated. AVB was eventually sacked (as we all know). Robbie kept faith in the "Old Guard", often starting them in crunch matches & they repaid his faith by winning the FA Cup & the Champions League. They proved that they were still integral to Chelsea FC as a whole, & Robbie must keep the faith in them as long as they are playing for the club. Doing otherwise would bring about his downfall.

2) Extreme reliance on certain players- Last season, Juan Mata was the only creative spark in the midfield. This usually meant that he started almost every game for Chelsea, & whenever he didn't start, we struggled. Mata was actually so tired  by the end of the season that it reflected in his performances. I don't blame the Spaniard, but I dreaded watching matches when I knew that Mata was on the bench. It was the same with Ramires. Whenever he didn't play, we struggled. With quality players being signed this season, I don't see burn-out as a big headache. But Robbie must recognize who his key players are & make sure that they are well-rested before important games. Winning matches will be a bit easier if that happens.

3) Let the past affect him- This is the most important in the list of "don'ts" for Di Matteo. It's a known fact that Roman Abramovich is a boss who is as likely to sack managers as he is to spend extravagant sums on players. Chelsea fans are almost used to it now. Robbie's already seen AVB get the sack, & he can be sure that if he doesn't live up to Roman's high standards, he will most likely be fired as well. However, this must not affect him from doing his job.He did a fantastic job for us during the last 2 months of the season, & now that he is the permanent manager, he must pick up where he left off. He's shown that he has the ability to create teams that can win trophies. If he keeps doing that, he could be at Chelsea for years to come.

Defying The Odds: Robbie after the Champions League win
I'd like to end by wishing Robbie best of luck. The Chelsea job isn't an easy one, but he's defied the odds before, hasn't he? He will do it again.
