Chelsea Looking To Capture Lille Right Back Mathieu

Chelsea are looking to capture  Lille right back Mathieu Debuchy in their bid to replace José Bosingwa who is set to part company with the club at the end of this month. The 26 year old France international is often deployed in the right back position, but began his career playing as a midfielder usually acting as a deep-lying play-maker.

According to the Mirror, the Blues are interested in the Frenchman:
Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich wants to carry on his summer spending spree - and is ready to snatch France right-back Mathieu Debuchy from Newcastle.Newcastle still hope to get their man, but the Blues are keen to strengthen at Debuchy's position after freeing Jose Bosingwa at the end of the season.

The report from Daily Mail read as follows-
Chelsea plan to snatch French international Mathieu Debuchy from under the noses of Newcastle as the Stamford Bridge club continue their summer transfer splurge. The £6million-rated right-back has impressed during Euro 2012 and was expected to join the Magpies after the tournament.

But Blues owner Roman Abramovich has identified the 26-year-old as the next piece of his new-look Chelsea side. The right back slot has been a problem area for the London club with Jose Bosingwa being released at the end of last season. The versatile Branislav Ivanovic meanwhile wants to play at the heart of the defence after being shunted out to full back. Ajax’s Gregory Van der Wiel is also a possible target but Debuchy looks to have jumped to the front of the queue

Debuchy is a solid one-on-one defender, but he also excels going forward up the pitch. He would certainly be an upgrade over any of the right-backs that Chelsea currently have.Debuchy is a smart player and a reliable presence at the back. He also has Champions League experience from his time at Lille this season.

The Blues have already secured the services of Eden Hazard from Lille in the transfer window, Debuchy would have a teammate that he knows well right off the bat in England.

If Debuchy does come to Chelsea it could be one of the best baragains  of the transfer window but skill wise, ability wise Debuchy is great as well. Debuchy is also representing the France national team in the Euros with Arsenal’s Sagna out with injury. Debuchy has been attracting interest from a host of other clubs but he could be tempted by the European Champions and their forthcoming plans.

Till then Blue is the Color.
